So, here’s a sad, yet true story… We have a family membership to our county’s local recreation center (sort of like a nice YMCA). And, depending on my schedule, I either get up early to head to the gym or go during lunch. When I go in the mornings, I get up quite early. With Winter slowly approaching, the mornings are now getting darker and darker. On a particular recent early morning, I proceeded to get my gym attire on for the morning grind. Since there’s a large window, I try to use the light from outside or a nightlight to get dressed. I proceeded to the gym, did my full workout, then made it home later. During my workout I sensed something was “different”, but couldn’t put my finger on it — but, it was distracting and my workout didn’t feel completely successful. Needless to say, it wasn’t until I made it back home that I realized my gym pants were on backward the entire time — yep, backward!!
“I’m single-minded in pursuit of you; don’t let me miss the road signs you’ve posted.” ~ Psalm 119:15 The Message
There are times when we get distracted by everything around us; even by things that seem to need our attention. Our vision becomes hindered. Things begin to feel “off kilter”, and we’re not sure where the problem(s) lies. Sometimes it could be a simple fix, or its a major life situation. Either way, if we had allowed THE LIGHT to be evident as we’re preparing and working through all our decisions, we might not realize later that our pants are on backward.
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'” ~ John 8:12 NIV
The moral of the story is… Use the Light when getting prepared for all life’s processes – otherwise, you might get caught with your pants on backward!!
