If I had a pulpit this week, this is the heartbeat of the homily I might deliver. I pray you are blessed by its words that have been on my heart.
The worldwide birthday celebration of the King of kings and Lord of lords has been occurring for over 2,000 years—all starting with an angel announcement given to the lowest of society…shepherds. It’s a celebration joining together the universal church, no matter the sign on the door or the particular worshipers’ ethnic origin.
The beauty of this celebration is Jesus wasn’t Baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Methodist, Catholic, etc, as wonderful as these expressions might be. His race wasn’t one that caused a divide, nor his political leanings one to tear apart friendships.
His story is declared from the most poorest and meager of church families to the most regal of Christendom. His story transcends those things that seemingly cause brother to turn against brother. His story transcends those who desire to inflict fear because of those who fear Him and follow His precepts. His story is one of righteousness and justice. His story transcends the ignorance of hate and the unfortunate lack of love.
His story is one the church will declare until He comes again to redeem mankind once and for all. His story is the one and only grand story that truly guides mankind through this sinful and challenging world into hope, peace, love, and joy.

His story…may we tell it with our words, our smiles, our hugs, and the fullness of our actions. Go, go, go tell His story on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere!!!
